Dr. Izzeldin Abuelaish, a Palestinian obstetrician who lost three of his daughters to an Israeli shell
during Israel's military operation in Gaza last January, has become - for Israelis and Palestinians alike - an icon
of hope for peace and reconciliation. A longtime peace activist, who has spoken out against violence, Dr. Abuelaish
believes that peace-seeking Israelis and Palestinians ought to work together to steer their leaders toward peace.
He is on a three-week U.S. tour, partly sponsored by Americans for Peace Now, and during his visit, Dr. Abuelaish
will receive the Niarchos Prize for Survivorship, presented by Survivor Corps.
