Yesterday the Israeli government sent yet another signal that it when it comes to settlements, rule of law is optional. It also gave another sign that this Israeli government prefers settlements to peace. It did this by approving the biggest West Bank settlement since the Netanyahu government took power - in a settlement and illegal outpost located deep since the West Bank, far east of Israel's separation barrier, in an area that could not possibly remain under Israeli control under any future peace deal. The approvals come in response to Peace Now petitions to the Israeli High Court against illegal construction at these two sites. Rather than implement the law, the Israeli Government responded to the petitions by taking action to post-facto legalize the settlers' illegal construction and now has added insult to injury by approving this additional construction. Peace Now's report on the approval is available here.

The problem with the settlements is that they will obviously be an issue in bi-lateral Israeli-Palestinian negotiations. The ruling Likud party, along with Prime Minister Netanyahu will have to decide whether to return the settlers back to the pre-1967 borders, or stay and become citizens of Palestine. But the West Bank is going to have to be a contiguous entity, if it is going to function as a nation-state. So the Cabinet and Knesset will have to start voting and making decisions now!
ISRAEL IS RUN BY IRGUN LEGACY . EVEN JUDICIARY IS RUN BY IRGUN LEGACY
The Arabs of palestine will never agree to peace with Israel. I say NEVER. When will be people truly understand that all these people want is to run the Israelis-Jews into the sea.
I like how you distort and manipulate the facts. What actually happened was that the Defense Ministry gave preliminary approval on Tuesday to a plan to build 600 new homes in Shiloh, a settlement established in 1978.
If the 'settlements' become 'gated communities,
they will be on Palestine land that is owned by
the residents, a cooperative or association and/
or its members--NOT the State of Israel. The res
idents MUST affirm this fact and that they will
obey those Pal Laws that pertain to them. They
will NOT become Pals--period. The few places that will remain under Israel sovereignty will
be allowed 'easement/access roads' to reach Is-
rael proper and these will be patrolled by IL
Nat. Police. Pals will NOT use them...In return,
Israel must provide 'easement/access routes to
connect isolated Pal territory with Palestine
proper. These roads will be patrolled by Pal
State Police...Israel shall NOT block the [revi-
sed] 'ARC' right-of-way with its connection of
Pal-South [Judea] with Gaza, a route parallel to
31d30'N and sufficently wide to support a 4-lane
tollroad, a 2-lane 'frontage' [low speed] road,
a dual-track railway line, and low pressure wat-
er lines, fiber-optic communications cables and
a pathway which is part of the Pal National Park
system [cycling/walking paved pathway]...Neither
country shall block reasonable easement for the
other's contiguity: All motor vehicles will be
registered and insured in their country of ownership [including leased units]...Aaron Allen...
