Moments ago I sent out this call to action to APN's activists.
In an interview yesterday with Barbara Walters, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin took aim at the Obama administration's stance on West Bank settlements.
"I believe that the Jewish settlements should be allowed to be expanded upon, because that population of Israel is, is going to grow," Palin told Walters.
"I don't think that the Obama administration has any right to tell Israel that the Jewish settlements cannot expand," she added.

Those of us who care about Israel and peace cannot afford to simply dismiss Palin's comments. Palin's statements are likely to become the new conservative line of attack against President Obama's efforts to bring peace to Israel.
Gov. Palin may not be aware of it, but every American president in the past 40 years -- Republican and Democrat alike -- has opposed West Bank settlements. They have done so because settlement expansion is bad for American national security interests and because they have cared about Israel's well-being.
You and I cannot let these attacks go unanswered. You and I cannot allow peace for Israel to become a partisan issue.
Today, we need you to re-affirm to your representatives and senators in Washington your support for the effort to bring peace to Israel. Ask them to resist the urge to turn this key issue into a cheap political football.

This is an important moment for peace. Just yesterday, President Obama's press secretary delivered a clear message of American opposition to new settlement initiatives, noting that they complicate American efforts to re-launch negotiations. Please, join us in supporting Obama's efforts.
Sincerely,

I believ there should be a cessation fof new settlement building. I am not convinced that Israel shoudld give back all or most of the land on which the settlements were bit.
We must remind people that the Arab countries attacked Israe,l who won, and had taken over these lands. When Israel offered to make peace, it was redused. Why should they not have some benefit from all the wokr they have done to develop these underused lands which the Palesitnians the rest refused to deal with at the end of that war ?the fact that th Palesinians the rest simply would not make peace. They have to give up somethigng for that 40 year old refusal which has cost some much in so many ways.
It would be suicide to give up all of the Golan; perhaps some of it can be sacrificed for sake of peace with the Syrians, aa highly desirable move.. The stretegic location of the Golan suggests that some of it along the Lake be kept for security reaons. I lived in Israel during the 1950s when there were constant shootings upon the Israeli fishermen from atop the Golan on the eastern side of Kinneret.
As for Jeruslaem, perhaps some kindof settlement can be worked out. However, it cannot be called the capital of Palestine. It never was and why should it be now? Of couse the Israelis will respect the Mount and other sacred plaecs and allow access to them. Jerualsem is one of three holy places to Islam.
Israel has been very careful with Islamic sacred places. I noticed on a recent trip to Israel to Galilee, that right besides the hotel where we stayed was a part of a very old Mosque. It was situated right on the lake , a wonderful, high value property, yet it has not been destroyed or reuibuilt upon. Same in Tel Aviv. Yet, Palestinians were eager to destroy everything that Israel had left tn Gaza, even though these places could have been useful to them, the Arabs, and in good shape and not religious. Same thing happened in 1948 when the Jordanian community destroyed all the buildings in the former Jewish section.
It is time for the Arab community to show ITS good faith.
It is time ofr Israle and teh Jewish epoeple to maek oru history clear, the refuslao fo Jradn to become th enw Palestinia.a ll of it. The palestinians have completedly rewritten history and the worledMUST BE REMIDNED OF HAT LOSS OF TRUST BEGAN WITH THEM1
