Settlements Panel from J Street

I had the honor of moderating a fantastic panel that kicked off the first day of discussions at J Street's conference last Monday. It was an honor to moderate the panel, which Americans for Peace Now sponsored and organized, because the participants were leading authorities on the settlement enterprise and on settlement politics.

Debra DeLee, APN's president and CEO, chaired the panel and spoke about what we and Peace Now does on this issue. The first presenter was Akiva Eldar of Haaretz, the co-author of the definitive book on the settlements, Lords of the Land. Next was Hagit Ofran, the director of Peace Now's Settlement Watch Project. Middle East policy expert Scott Lasensky of the U.S. Institute of Peace, spoke about the Obama administration's policy on settlements. A lively Q&A session followed.

As promised at the panel, we are posting the audio recording of the panel discussion. To listen, click below.

The audio is not displaying properly. There could be two reasons. Try the first and refresh the page. If that doesn't work then move on to the second approach.

2) You do not have Flash installed on your computer. Take me to the Flash download page.

We are working on a video recording, which we hope will be ready soon.

We also promised to post the computerized presentations that Akiva and Hagit showed. To watch Hagit's presentation, click here. To Watch Akiva's presentation, click here. (If you have trouble opening these files, your may want to download Microsoft's Power Point Viewer.)

Hundreds of people huddled to listen to Akiva, Hagit and Scott, and many did not get a chance to ask their questions. We therefore promised to answer whatever questions you may have on our web site. Please post your questions below and I will make sure that you receive an answer from Hagit, Akiva or one of our other experts on this issue.

I also welcome any other comments that you may have below.

Thank you very much for providing this. I attended the J Street Conference, but went to the panel on the Knesset and Israeli decision making. Traditionally I find it to be the case that at conferences that I attend the panels I most want to attend are at the same time. Please email me the links for the Eldar and Hagit slide presentations so I can provide them to my representative when we meet with her.
