Quote of the day:
"You find yourself, especially in the age of social media networks, flooded by all kinds of lies you can not deal with. They spread this or that. Myths. They say things about you and they attack from here and they attack from there. It's just irresponsible, a loss of values, a loss of moral compass and unfortunately, these people have also infiltrated our movement."
--Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon told Likud members about the incitement he is battling against - even from within his party.

News Summary:
The ‘Shooting Soldier’ arrived at the military court for the first time without handcuffs and his ‘open detention’ was extended for another week, at the end of which charges are expected to be made against him. Numerous Israelis have slammed the Israeli Defense Minister and the IDF Chief of Staff for detaining him at all in the murder of an injured Palestinian assailant, who was laying on the ground already shot. Maariv today reported how Yaalon is battling against the ‘wild incitement’ against him by activists from his own party, Likud. Yaalon said that people without values and ethics have infiltrated the party.

But the bigger story in today’s Hebrew newspapers was the statement by an Arab MK of the Zionist Camp party, who said that Palestinians who attacked IDF soldiers were not ‘terrorists.’  MK Zuheir Bahloul’s declaration caused a furor, even in his own party. The far right-wing Haybayit Hayehudi party took advantage of the opportunity to slam Bahloul and his party, for which Zionist Leader Chairman, MK Isaac Herzog, said Habayit Hayehudi is the last party that has a right to slam anyone in light of the racist remarks by their MK Betsalel Smotrich supporting separation of Jewish and Arab women in the hospital maternity wards. (The Health Ministry director has summoned the hospital directors for a clarification on the policy the hospitals secretly implemented.)

Meanwhile, there was more talk over the draft agreements between Herzog and Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to create a unity government. Maariv reported that Likud activists were none too happy to discover the plan to bring Zionist Camp into the coalition, fearing the party would make settlement construction more difficult. But since a police probe was opened into Herzog, the whole thing was frozen.

Also in the news, the Palestinian Authority has pushed forward a draft resolution condemning Israeli settlement construction in the West Bank. (Haaretz+ and Ynet) And Turkey said that an accord will be reached with Israel very soon.
