PAST ACTION: Sign the Petition to President-elect Joe Biden - Reverse Trump’s Course and Advance Israeli-Palestinian Peace

Update: this action, now closed, ran from November 25, 2020-January 20, 2021.

CLICK to read and sign the petition

On January 20, when President Joe Biden and his foreign policy team enter the White House, they will have the work of restoring America’s leadership abroad cut out for them.

The Trump administration is filling its last days by starting fires and laying land mines that Biden’s team will have to remove one-by-one.

Americans for Peace Now sent a letter to President-elect Joe Biden’s transition team, addressed to incoming Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, with some specific recommendations that President Biden should take action on in order to clear some of the wreckage left behind by Trump.

They heard from us. Now they need to hear from you!

Go HERE to sign the petition urging President-elect Joe Biden to reverse Trump’s course of endorsing occupation, annexation, settlement construction and apartheid, and to instead commit his administration to advancing Israeli-Palestinian peace in earnest.

PAST ACTION: Say NO to settlement expansion - Help block the E-1 plan

Update: this action, now closed, ran from August 24-August 28, 2020.

Prime Minister Netanyahu's plans for annexing the West Bank have been put on hold. Maybe. But his efforts to undermine a two-state solution continue unabated. His government is currently advancing plans for a new settlement project in the territory known as E-1.

E-1 is a narrow piece of land between East Jerusalem and the West Bank settlement of Ma’ale Adumim. The international community has long viewed settlement construction in E-1 as a redline, as it would undercut the viability of a Palestinian capital in East Jerusalem and prevent the creation of a contiguous Palestinian state.

This Friday, August 28 is the deadline for submitting objections to the construction plan. Right now, thousands of Israelis, led by our partners at Peace Now - together with Ir Amim, and the Association of Environmental Justice in Israel (AEJI) - are mounting a major opposition campaign.

Stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Israel by adding your name to block this plan and preserve prospects for a just and viable solution to this conflict. Together with our colleagues from the Progressive Israel Network, we will be submitting this petition to Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz, who has the authority to block this plan from moving forward.

LAST DAY TO TAKE ACTION: Prevent an unjust eviction in East Jerusalem

CLICK to TAKE ACTION

BACKGROUND

The Sumarin family has been living in the same house in East Jerusalem for generations. Yet unless the Israeli Supreme Court rules in their favor, they will soon be evicted, their home and their land taken from them. Please urge your representatives in Congress to speak out against this injustice and sign the letter aimed at stopping this eviction of a Palestinian family from their home.

This case goes far beyond the struggle of one family to save its home. It is a part of a broader fight against the efforts of Israeli settlers to displace East Jerusalem Palestinians and to create facts on the ground that would block the path for an Israeli-Palestinian peace agreement on Jerusalem.

Congresswoman Jackie Speier (D-CA) is circulating a Dear Colleague letter addressed to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, urging his government “to intervene on behalf of the Sumarin family and halt their eviction from their long-standing home."

Please urge your Representative to sign on to Congresswoman Speier’s letter.

Write to your Representative.

PAST ACTION: "Say No To Your Tax Dollars Paying For Illegal Annexation"

Update: this action, now closed, ran in July 2020.

Annexation is a game changer. Prime Minister Netanyahu’s plan to unilaterally annex parts of the West Bank, with the blessing – indeed the encouragement – of the Trump administration, is a dire threat to the prospects of a peaceful future for Israelis and Palestinians.

Last week, Senator Chris Van Hollen introduced an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act (the bill that authorizes providing U.S. aid to Israel), which would block the Netanyahu government from using any US aid to fund its illegal annexation.

Tell your Senators to cosponsor the Van Hollen amendment or thank them if they already have.

Update: this action, now closed, ran in June 2020.

With the blessing -- indeed the urging -- of Donald Trump’s White House, Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is in the midst of preparations to annex vast swaths of the West Bank. A joint committee, manned by representatives of Netanyahu and Trump, and headed by Trump’s ambassador to Israel David Friedman, is working on a detailed map delineating the territory – as much as 30% of the West Bank – that Israel will claim as its own.

A group of members of the House of Representatives is signing a letter (click HERE to read the letter) to Prime Minister Netanyahu and his ministers of defense and foreign affairs urging them to reconsider this destructive measure.

Tell your member of Congress to join the letter!

PAST ACTION: SIGN THE LETTER - APN and Shalom Achshav Joint Letter to STOP ANNEXATION

Update: this action, now closed, ran from June 9- June 30, 2020.

Go HERE to sign the letter

Americans for Peace Now and our Israeli sister organization Peace Now (Shalom Achshav) are raising our voices in solidarity and asking Israelis and Americans who care about peace to sign on to this letter.

The government of Israel, with the encouragement of the Trump administration, intends to begin annexation of the West Bank as soon as July 1st. Annexation would have disastrous repercussions for Israelis and Palestinians and would threaten US national security interests.

Israeli and American citizens are urging the government of Israel to abandon its unilateral annexation plan and to instead pursue negotiations with the Palestinian leadership to reach a conflict-ending peace accord.

Please add your name to these and the growing list!

PAST ACTION - Tell JNF: "Don't uproot the Sumarin family!"

Update: this action, now closed, ran in the summer of 2020.

Sumarins have lived in their family-built home in Jerusalem for 50 years. The Israeli court, as a result of a case brought by the Jewish National Fund's subsidiary organization, Himanuta, is soon likely to evict this Palestinian family from their East Jerusalem home.

The case rests on the application of Israel's unjust "Absentee Property Law" - and even an abuse of that law itself. It is part of a larger effort by Israeli settler organizations and their backers in the government to "Judaize" East Jerusalem at the expense of its inhabitants, like the Sumarin Family.

The eviction can be stopped, and the next few weeks will determine this family's fate.

Send an email or call Jewish National Fund to help stop the eviction.  A previous eviction was prevented as a result of a campaign similar to this one. With your help, eviction can be prevented again.

Go HERE for more information, including a video with interviews from Sumarin family members, and to send an email to JNF.

APN and Peace Now are part of an international coalition of groups that have united to defend the Sumarin family from this unjust eviction.

PAST ACTION - SIGN THE PETITION to Netanyahu and Gantz: NO to Annexation, YES to Peace!

Update: this action, now closed, ran in April 2020.

Go HERE to read and sign to the petition

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his opponent-turned-coalition-partner Benny Gantz have agreed to guidelines that allow for Israeli annexation in the West Bank beginning as soon as July 1, 2020.

The Netanyahu-Gantz government, allegedly established to join forces to fight the Coronavirus, will be the first in Israel’s history to adopt such an extremist policy principle.

Tell Netanyahu: Trump’s Vision and West Bank Annexation Threaten Israel and Peace

President Trump's vision is not a "peace plan" but rather a scheme, co-authored by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Donald Trump, to allow for an immediate annexation of all Israeli settlements in the West Bank and the entire Jordan Valley. If any proof was needed, immediately after the Trump "vision" was unveiled, Benjamin Netanyahu's government announced that it will submit an annexation bill to the Knesset.

SIGN THE PETITION and let Prime Minister Netanyahu hear from us!
