Government Relations
APN maintains strong relationships with Members of Congress, congressional staff, and Executive Branch officials. A non-partisan organization . with a non-partisan mission, APN supplies timely information, analysis, expertise and education, providing a pro-Israel, pro-peace, American Jewish perspective on issues and legislation related to Israel and the quest for Middle East peace and, security. APN also engages in advocacy, directly and through its nationwide Action Network, to promote pro-Israel/pro-peace legislation and policy
APN publishes the Legislative Round-Up -- the most comprehensive resource available anywhere on Middle East-related developments on Capitol Hill -- every Friday when Congress is in session. APN also hosts policy briefings on Capitol Hill and brings experts to meet with policy makers to maintain a steady flow of balanced information from the region.
Today, APN sent the following message to foreign policy staffers in the offices of members of the House of Representatives:
On behalf of Americans for Peace Now (APN), America’s veteran grassroots, Jewish, Zionist, pro-peace organization and the sister organization to the Israeli Peace Now movement (Shalom Achshav), I’m writing to urge your boss to refuse to cosponsor H. Res. 567 – a resolution that would reverse almost 5 decades of U.S. policy with respect to Israeli settlements – and to oppose this resolution if it is brought to a vote.

Note: Recently defenders of Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu have been arguing that settlement construction has actually decreased under Netanyahu (and that he has thus been unfairly criticized when he deserves to be praised). This argument is based on a single, misleading statistic – a case APN and Peace Now came together to make in a joint report laying out the facts of Netanyahu’s real settlements record, here.
Apologies for the brief hiatus in the publication of the Round-Up, which was the result of the High Holiday
schedule and travel.
