APN Statement: Poll Results Reiterate Jewish Community's Need to Tackle Problematic Israeli Policies
A newly published survey of American Jewish voters reveals views on Israel that many will find alarming. A quarter (25%) of those polled agreed with the statement that Israel is an apartheid state, and almost a quarter (22%) agreed with the statement that Israel is committing genocide against the Palestinians.
The American Jewish community is facing a critical decision. It can ignore the real issues that lead people to take these positions and continue to call those who hold them antisemites. Or it can start to meaningfully address the core issue, 54 years of occupation.
Americans for Peace Now (APN) joins its Israeli sister organization Shalom Achshav (Peace Now) in urging the Israeli government to reverse the so-called “compromise agreement” reportedly achieved with militant West Bank settlers, and immediately remove a settlement outpost built illegally on land that is claimed by the Palestinian villages of Beita and Yatma, near Nablus.
APN urges the Biden administration to demand that the Israeli government remove this illegal outpost and put an end to the damaging practice of “legalizing” West Bank settlement outposts built in violation of both international law and Israel’s own laws.

Americans for Peace Now opposes Rep. Guy Reschenthaler’s (R-PA) resolution, which absurdly characterizes comments critical of Israeli policies by a fellow member of the House of Representative’s as “antisemitic.”
Reschenthaler is introducing a congressional resolution to condemn Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) for saying that because Israel is more powerful than its Palestinian adversaries in the Gaza Strip, it bears more responsibility for maintaining peace in the region. Jayapal, who spoke in an interview with CNN, also said that as a tool to induce a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, the Biden administration should hold a US arms sale to Israel.
