News Summary:
Tensions are ramping up between Habayit Hayehudi (Jewish Home) and Likud over the new broadcasting authority. After the cabinet session on Sunday, the Israel Public Broadcasting Corporation is expected to begin operations as late as April 1, 2017. During the session, Likud Culture and Sports Minister Miri Regev vocalized her concerns about the lack of governmental control over the corporation: "It’s inconceivable that we’ll establish a corporation that we won’t control. What’s the point?" She was strongly opposed by Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan and Social Equality Minister Gila Gamliel, and the media has deemed her remarks borderline fascist.

Retiring Ambassador Eviator Manor, Israel's permanent representative to the UN in Geneva, wrote a letter to all foreign ministry staff criticizing government policy and the state of the ministry. He advises against the "victim attitude" used by the Israeli government, and he makes a plea to the government to help rebuild the relationship between the Foreign and Finance Ministries and to allow Foreign Ministry workers to use their diplomatic skills to build bridges in the UN.
