Treaty signed by Egyptian President Anwar El Sadat and Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin that made Egypt the
first Arab country to officially recognize Israel. Included mutual recognition, cessation of the state of war that
had existed since 1948, normalization of relations, and complete Israeli withdrawal by Israel from the Sinai
Peninsula which Israel had captured during the Six-Day War in 1967. Read Document >
