The latest news following the attack by a Palestinian at an Israeli factory in the West Bank, the report that revealed that Haifa has the highest cancer rates in the country and the announcement by the head of the Israel Bar Association that he will suspend himself from the committee that appoints judges after it was revealed that he helped smuggle his mistress out of and into the country and he lied about it to police - making top stories in today’s Hebrew newspapers.
Israeli security forces are still hunting for the Palestinian young man who murdered two Israelis at an Israeli factory in the West Bank, and they detained his brother and his sister, a university lecturer. The papers also reported that the Jewish Israelis and the Palestinians still working together at the Barkan industrial zone want to continue their co-existence (also Maariv. But, security checks of Palestinians were far stricter and Palestinian cars were no longer allowed to enter. The Israeli military began reviewing security protocols for the industrial zone, but officials said it was ‘impossible to inspect 3,000 Palestinian workers in one hour.’
*Yedioth revealed that the woman, who was shot and injured by the Palestinian attacker, was saved by a Palestinian employees of the factory. Sarah Vettori, who was shot in the stomach by the killer, said that Basel, a Palestinian man who has worked at the factory for years, ran to her office when he heard the shots, pulled her out from under the table and put pressure on her wound with a roll of paper (towel?) to stop the bleeding and he kept her conscious by stroking her face and whispering ‘my dear, my dear,’ until the ambulance arrived. "Basel saved my life,” she said, adding, “I’ve worked with Arabs for many years, and I'm not afraid … they are very respectful people, and many Palestinians I work with told me that they are saddened by what happened to me, and to two other victims,” she reiterated. [Note: Interestingly, this was the main front page story in Yedioth, however, Israel Hayom, which also interviewed Vitori, buried deep in the article the part about Basel saving her. Yedioth also revealed that the killer was not the one who tied the hands of one of the people he shot dead. The killer reportedly forced under threat of death a 20-year-old Palestinian cleaner at the factory to tie up Kim Levengrond Yehezkel. Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu vowed to “settle accounts” with the murderer.
