News Summary:
A 19-year-old American-Israeli hacker was detained on suspicion of spreading fake reports of bombs at Jewish centers across the world, religious settler, MK Bezalel Smotrich, called on religious youth not to go to the army to protest women being integrated into combat units and Israeli security forces were caught on film twice yesterday perpetrating crimes against Palestinians which the newspapers called ‘shameful,’ making top news in Friday's Hebrew newspapers.

In one of the chilling videos, a policeman who is a member of the YASAM, riot police forces, is seen viciously beating a 50-year-old Palestinian truck driver, (NOTE: DIFFICULT TO WATCH) when the latter tried to explain in Hebrew that he was parked legally. The videos went viral on Facebook among Israelis. Maariv reported that the policeman was detained, but then released to house arrest.

In the other video revealed yesterday and filmed by a member of B’tselem, about a dozen Israeli soldiers in Hebron are seen grabbing a barefoot and crying 8-year-old boy and dragging him to the street to name who were the youth who threw stones at them. The boy's mother said they wouldn’t let him go until he named them.

Barely making news, was that two Palestinian teens were reportedly brain dead, another is dead and was buried today and a fourth is seriously injured after Israeli soldiers shot them last night in an incident raising serious questions. The Israeli army said that, “Three suspects exited a vehicle adjacent to the community of Beit El, where the suspects threw firebombs at the community. In response to the threat Israeli forces in the area fired towards the suspects, and several hits were confirmed. The suspects then fled the scene.” Palestinian witnesses said the soldiers shot from a tower at the car while the youth were inside. Photos and video show that the youths’ car was riddled with bullets and broken glass inside the car and blood all over the seats. When questioned about how the teens could have re-entered their car and driven away from the scene after being injured with multiple rounds of live fire to the head and chest, the Israeli army spokesperson said she could not comment, no would she comment on the reports that the teenagers were fired at while still inside the vehicle, or on reports that Israeli forces fired at the teens from a military watchtower. The youth were in Jalazoun when they were shot at, which is a refugee camp adjacent to Beit El settlement. Today, 17-year-old Muhammad Mahmoud Ibrahim al-Hattab was buried and clashes broke out in Jalazoun against Israeli forces guarding the settlement, one which received great support from David Friedman, who was approved by the US Senate as the ambassador to Israel.

*Another violent attack by Israeli security forces against Arabs that was revealed this week was actually perpetrated by Jewish Israeli riot police against Arab Israeli police at a Purim party. This is the report from Army Radio, which revealed the incident:
It took place at a Purim party held for the Dan district (Tel-Aviv-Jaffa area) police and among those who came were Arab-Israeli policemen serving in the area. It was a joyous evening and the gaiety reached a climax towards the end when an Arab policeman stood up and began to sing in Arabic ‘Rain, Drizzling Rain.’ [The song recently became popular across the country when a video clip of an Arab-Israeli Hebrew teacher sang it to teach Arab children Hebrew, while she played the darbuka drum. – OH] In order to make the performance perfect, the policeman asked the DJ to plays some darbuka music. All the Arab policemen present, together with their Jewish colleagues, danced with joy and brotherhood. Two Riot Police (YASAM) officers standing on the side apparently were not thrilled about the celebration they saw. According to information received by Army Radio, the disgruntled policemen took three glasses from a table next to them and threw them at the Arab policeman. The glasses crashed next to him and his friends. Luckily, no one was injured. The Arab policeman to whom the glasses were directed approached the two policemen who were suspect and asked one of them why he threw the glasses - and the response was not long in coming. According to eyewitnesses, the police officer suspected of throwing the glass pushed him roughly before he added: "Get out of here." The Arab policeman did not understand the meaning of the push and asked again what was happening. At this point, the other policeman who was involved in throwing the glasses, approached the Arab policeman, and to his friend's amazement, slapped the Arab policeman hard across the face - as if he were a criminal and not a colleague. Some of the policemen who understood that there was a danger of a conflagration and that a fight might erupt were quick to try to separate the men. But to no avail. Other policemen actually joined their two friends who threw the glasses and began shouting racist and humiliating calls at the Arab policeman. The Arab policemen told their confidants that they were worried and concerned about the escalation at the party. "The police feel that they were wronged and humiliated on the basis of racism by their friends in the Riot Police Unit. According to them, to this day, the Police Command of the area has not yet condemned the grave acts. "If the situation were reversed and this behavior were directed at a Jewish policeman, the sanctions and the response would have been immediate," they told Army Radio. At the time of the incident, no officer from the area's command were present, and none of them bothered to come and stop the mess. Those who stood stunned by the incident were the owners of the hall [where the party took place], who did not believe this was how police officers behaved. The Israel Police said in response that they viewed the matter seriously and the incident was brought to the attention of the command in the Tel Aviv District. (Also in Maariv)

Lastly, Haaretz+ reported that three Israeli soldiers were indicted Thursday in a military court on suspicions of beating a Palestinian after he had been arrested last October.

And regarding the Israeli coalition crisis over the Israel Public Broadcasting Corporation? It was put on hold because Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu had the flu.
