Position Description

APN is seeking a full-time Strategic Communications and Development Associate to help implement and further develop the organization’s communication strategy and support the development department. The Strategic Communications and Development Associate will be responsible for strengthening the organization’s public engagement through web, social media, and email communications.

Responsibilities include managing APN’s databases and email platform, maintaining APN’s website, helping manage mailings to APN donors and stakeholders, as well as implementing APN’s social media engagement.

This position will be located in APN’s Washington, DC, office. Currently APN is working remotely but plans to return to the office as soon as it is COVID-safe.  


Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting the development and implementation of APN’s communications strategy.
  • Updating and posting of both textual and visual content on APN’s website.
  • Managing the organization’s social media accounts, and producing textual and visual content for social media: Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
  • Helping cultivate the organization’s stakeholders and digital communities, including the management of APN’s emailing platforms. That includes:
    • Managing and updating APN’s donor database
    • Preparing and mailing donor acknowledgements
    • Preparing periodic fundraising reports
    • Providing support for APN events
    • Providing support for annual appeal mailings as necessary
  • Writing texts for emails, event announcements, and other regular mailings.
  • Producing APN’s Weekly Update.
  • Administrative and other duties in support of APN’s operations, as assigned by staff.


 Desired Qualifications and Skills

  • Strong writing skills essential.
  • Experience in digital communications required, including website management, digital graphic design, and social media skills.
  • Ability to manage customer relationship management (CRM) and mailing platforms required.
  • Familiarity with the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and US-Israeli relations and Identification with APN’s mission desired.
  • Effectively functioning under pressure as a team player essential.
  • Video and audio editing skills desired.
  • Proficiency in Hebrew a plus.

Salary and Benefits

Salary range for this position is $40,000 - $45,000.
