Quote of the day:
"[But] even in difficult moments, when your blood boils and rage is high, we mustn't lose our way or our values. Our morals and ethics should be sanctified; compromising them could push our society down a slippery slope. We must use force when necessary, but also understand its limitations and its ability to desensitize us. We must maintain our purity of arms and our humanity, we must not lose our heads."
--Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon said in a speech marking Memorial Day for Israel's fallen.**

News Summary:
**At ceremonies for Israel’s fallen Wednesday, Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon warned of Israelis losing their humanity, in an apparent reference to the affair of Elor Azarya, the ‘Shooting Soldier from Hebron, while Education Minister Naftali Bennett declared that "no one, no one, has the right to preach values and morality to this wonderful nation.” Then on Thursday, Jewish Israelis celebrated the state’s 68th Independence Day (on Wednesday Arab Israeli leaders marked Nakba Day at a ceremony in the Negev) and Opposition leader Isaac Herzog confirmed for the first time that there have been talks about his faction, Zionist Camp, joining the far right-wing government, but that it wouldn’t happen unless he got a good offer that included pursuing a two-state solution, making top stories in the Friday Hebrew newspapers. (Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Binaymin Netanyahu is expected to tell French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault in a meeting this coming Sunday that he rejects the French proposal for an international peace conference on the Middle East.)
