News Summary:
Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman said he would not make a deal with Hamas to return the Israelis captive in Gaza (two citizens believed alive and two dead soldiers), but Israel Hayom reported that he denied saying that, the Education Ministry released scores of communities based on their children’s education level, values and contribution to the community (the Arab town of Beit Jan got highest scores in education and the ultra-Orthodox city of Bnei Brak got the worst), and numerous headlines came out of the trial of Elor Azariya, ‘The Shooting Soldier from Hebron,’ yesterday, including from a company officer who gave inconsistent testimonies and that the anger of the soldiers following the shooting was so great that "we were concerned at the possibility of a mutiny,” and a Hebron settler, who said that IDF commanders have political motives, making top stories in today’s Hebrew newspapers.

Also of interest, Yedioth reported on a ‘training camp’ for far right-wing Israelis, an ex-Mossad chief warned that division in Israeli society could lead to civil war, Israel’s High Court has been reducing sentences against young Palestinian stone-throwers, in opposition to the Knesset’s recommendations, the IDF Chief of Staff has called on officers to refuse "unofficial donations of any kind, particularly donations of army equipment,” saying the phenomenon "is inappropriate and cannot be permitted,” and Brussels Airlines has put Israeli halva back on its menu in what was seen as an Israeli victory against boycotts.
