Letter signed by notable American Jewish figures, including Albert Einstein, that warns of the "disturbing
political phenomena" surrounding Menachem Begin's Herut party in Israel. The letter also describes the Deir Yassin
massacre, committed in part by Begin's Irgun forces, and claims that the Herut party has previously espoused

Excerpts from an article by Yitzhak Shamir, prime minister of Israel from 1983-1984 and 1986-1992, that first
appeared in the Lehi underground organization journal Hehazit (The Front). Shamir, then the leader of
Lehi, claims that "neither Jewish ethics nor Jewish tradition can disqualify terrorism as a means of combat."
