Vice News: "Trump’s latest tweet could hand the election to Netanyahu in Israel" (March 22, 2019)

“Making such a radical change in U.S. policy basically days before Israeli national elections, which are a referendum on Benjamin Netanyahu, very much smells like an attempt to influence the elections,” said Ori Nir, a spokesman for the liberal pro-Israel group Americans for Peace Now.

USA Today: "President Trump says U.S. should recognize Israel's sovereignty over disputed Golan Heights" (March 21, 2019)

"Trump's Twitter recognition of Israel's Golan Heights annexation does nothing to bolster Israeli security," Ori Nir, communications director at Americans for Peace Now..."It does, however, hinder its prospects to reach peace with the Palestinians and the Arab world. Americans for Peace Now (APN) strongly condemns President Trump’s Twitter declaration that “it is time for the United States to fully recognize Israel’s Sovereignty over the Golan Heights.” We resolutely oppose a change in US policy – consistent across consecutive administrations, Republican and Democratic – that would recognize Israel’s annexation of the Golan Heights.

Such a revolutionary policy shift would hurt prospects for peace between Israel and the Palestinians, and harm Israel’s chances for peace with Arab states. This step, as a result, would negatively impact Israel’s national security. It would also severely harm America’s moral standing and national security interests.

This is a special episode of PeaceCast. For the first time, APN recorded before a live audience in Washington DC. We partnered with one of Israel’s most popular English language podcasts, the Tel Aviv Review.

We recorded it on March 7th 2019 at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. The event was organized in partnership with J Street.

We hosted two journalists, Israeli journalist Amir Tibon of Haaretz and Palestinian journalist Said Arikat of al-Quds. Haaretz is published in Tel Aviv and al-Quds is published in Ramallah, in the West Bank. Amir and Said are the Washington correspondents of their newspapers. The idea of this conversation was to explore how Said and Amir both cover the Israeli-Palestinian conflict from Washington.

This episode is released simultaneously on PeaceCast and on the Tel Aviv Review.
